Doris graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1975. She worked with the New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women on an outreach program to all NM high schools & vocational schools. She also served in the Peace Corps in Colombia and worked in Albuquerque for the State of New Mexico Employment Security Department.

Doris serves as a Board Member for the Santa Fe Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is an ambassador for Kitchen Angels. She appeared in the opera Dr. Atomic, representing the Tularosa Basin Downwinders Consortium (TBDC). She is also a member of the Committee for the TBDC, working on fundraising to send representatives to Washington to testify on behalf of the people of New Mexico for Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) funding, due to the Trinity Atomic Bomb Test in 1945.

For 16 years, Doris has worked as an unpaid lobbyist & activist, testifying in support of New Mexico businesses during the Legislature. She believes New Mexico must be committed to the support, survival, and growth of small businesses throughout our beautiful state.
